Questions

Which Vietnamese universities accept the SAT in 2026?

Schools that admit with the SAT include NEU, Foreign Trade University, the Diplomatic Academy, HUST (talent track), the Academy of Finance, the Banking Academy, Thuongmai University, PTIT, USTH, several VNU Hanoi and VNU-HCM schools, HCMC Open University, Ton Duc Thang University and Van Lang University. Many others give bonus points; VinUni and Fulbright accept the SAT as optional.

Does Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) accept the SAT?

No. In 2026 HNUE did not use the SAT for admission or bonus points; it only gave bonus points for language certificates such as IELTS and TOEFL iBT in its method 2.

What SAT score do Vietnamese universities require?

2026 minimums ranged from 1000 (Thuongmai University, Van Lang University) to 1380 (Foreign Trade University, with IELTS 6.5). Most sit at 1100 to 1200, and actual admitted scores are usually higher than the minimum.

Is the V-SAT the same as the SAT?

No. The V-SAT is a Vietnamese computer-based entrance test; the SAT is College Board's test. Schools such as UEF and Ho Chi Minh University of Banking use only the V-SAT.

How is the SAT converted?

There is no national table. Each school publishes how it converts the SAT to the 30-point scale or its own scale; the Ministry recommends a percentile method.

Do I still need the national graduation exam?

Yes. 2026 graduates still take the graduation exam and need a 3-subject total of at least 15/30, except some direct-admission cases.

How long is an SAT score valid for admission?

It depends on the school: many accept scores from the last 2 years, Foreign Trade University accepts 3 years and the Vietnam Aviation Academy only 12 months. See each school's notes.
